Vancouver Sea Wall

The Vancouver Sea Wall, which encircles the city's "Stanley Park" has become particularly famous, due mostly to the fact that it has grown to serve two purposes. Aside from serving its intentional function, protecting the park from erosion, it has also become a very frequently used walkway for the park's pedestrians. In fact, it is considered by many to be the park's most crucial feature. It serves as such a convenient walkway that, for years, it was disputed whether cyclists or pedestrians got first priorities to use it. Eventually, an agreement was reached in which two lanes were constructed, turning the sea wall into a makeshift road.
